Skitflow

EC2 Instructions

Instructions for setting up a multi-server on EC2

Skitflow can connect over SSH as root or as a non-root user with passwordless sudo (NOPASSWD in sudoers). AWS's default AMI users — ubuntu on Ubuntu AMIs, ec2-user on Amazon Linux — already have passwordless sudo configured out of the box, so no manual root-login setup is required.

  1. Click on launch instance

  2. Select the distribution of your choice (we recommend Ubuntu, Debian or Amazon Linux)

  3. Choose your instance type and all the other settings you want

  4. In the Network settings, click on:

    • Allow SSH traffic from the internet
    • Allow HTTPS traffic from the internet
    • Allow HTTP traffic from the internet
  5. Click on Launch instance (If you see a warning about adding a new key pair, just skip it)

  6. Create a server in the Skitflow dashboard in the remote server section

  7. Specify the server details:

    • IP field: IPv4 public address of the instance
    • Username field: the instance's default AMI user (e.g. ubuntu for Ubuntu, ec2-user for Amazon Linux) — root is not needed
    • SSH key: the private key of the key pair you selected when launching the instance
    • Click on Create Server
  8. Click on action Setup Server, open the Maintenance tab, then click Setup Server to run the installation script

If your AMI user doesn't have passwordless sudo configured, either enable it (echo "<user> ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD:ALL" | sudo tee /etc/sudoers.d/90-skitflow) or connect as root instead: edit /etc/ssh/sshd_config, set PermitRootLogin yes, restart with sudo systemctl restart sshd, then use root as the Username field when creating the server.

  1. Connect to the server - you should now be able to setup the server properly and deploy your applications
